Most of Group 1 took a red eye flight to Belize, and went through Belize customs with huge boxes of medicine. Once we got through, we took the bus to a restaurant where we got breakfast burritos, and then continued driving to the zip-lining location. After zip-lining, the bus took us all to Placencia and everyone got settled into their rooms in Sunset Pointe and Placencia Pointe. Then everyone met at Cozy Corner to eat dinner and play team building games, and get Tutti Frutti before going to bed.

The ABC Medical Mission Student Group 1 had our flight to Belize that would leave around 12 am on Saturday June 15 from LAX. My cousin Emmaly and her family were coming back from a trip to Colorado, but because their flights were delayed multiple times that day, they were unable to make it on the same flight as the whole group. Nonetheless, we all had a safe trip to Belize City where we all got on a bus and began to make our way to Placencia. On the way to Placencia we stopped for breakfast burritos and ziplining, but a majority of the time on both the bus and the plane was spent sleeping and attempting to gain as much energy as possible for the upcoming clinic days.

When we finally made it to Placencia, everyone began to slowly move into their respective condos in Sunset and Placencia Pointe. We took some time to freshen up and just before dinner, my cousin’s family arrived after all of the delays! We had our first team dinner at Cozy Corner where we played some fun games to get to know our team members and the doctors a little better. We also celebrated Cas’, one of our college student volunteers, 21st birthday at the restaurant. After dinner, my friends and I went to Tutti Frutti, our favorite gelato place, where we had our first (of many) servings of the absolute best local flavor - Soursop.
